Widely considered the most common type of microscope, Optical Microscopes magnify visible light to allow for the examination of features too small for the naked eye.

This kind of microscope is affordable and easy-to-use. They are typically lightweight and compact compared to other, more powerful microscopes. Because they use the visible part of the spectrum, optical microscopes offer a type of observation that is quite natural.

While Optical Microscopes can magnify an object up to 1,500 times its actual size, this degree of magnification isn’t sufficient for many areas of research. Furthermore, the depth of field for optical microscopes is rather confined.
